Don’t they?
It’s hard to be patient with the rhythm of life. Often slow when it’s painful and fast when it’s fun. But no matter the perceived pace, it is all uniform. One minute is the same length as the next, no matter how it “feels” to us. We look back on the past, sometimes in good favor and other memories get a bad rap. We anticipate and plan for the future, hopefully usually with an optimistic mind. A sort of dreamer’s paradise.
But real peace comes with accepting our here and now. Accepting all the joy and the crap alike that got us to this moment. It’s easy for me to think about how old I am. Oh if only I just found this passion for writing sooner. A passion that I did not know existed. I’d never felt what it meant to “never work a day in your life.”
You ever hear that saying? “If you do what you love, you’ll never work a day in your life?” Well, I finally feel that. And I wish that for all humans. To be happy. But although I opened this cracked door and found this love, we do create our own happiness. And it’s worth acknowledging the importance of our struggles. Without the struggle, there is not ease. There is not a sense of accomplishment and fulfillment.
Well, it’s with that sense of fulfillment that I say that my debut book will be released soon. I am aiming for October. And you won’t find this book on my IN THE WORKS page. I had other projects in the works, moving right along, until one morning I awoke with a nudge. A nudge to write a children’s devotional.
What?
That’s not what I’m working on, I thought. But the nudge became clearer and would not leave my mind. So, I obeyed. I have a programming background, so I dug deep into the depths of my geeky past and developed an interactive children’s devotional that I hope will bring a bit of clarity and fun to prayer. And give kids a way to pray through the emotions they feel about situations, rather than the situation itself.
I’m excited. I have a passion for helping young people pray. It’s such an intangible thing for them to do. How do you pray? What is it supposed to feel like? And with today’s world being noisier than ever, we have to help our younger generations find a way to silence their mind and connect with God. Just like we teach our children how to converse with others, we need to teach them how to pray.
So stay tuned! It’s coming soon to Amazon and beyond. I know this project is driven by the Holy Spirit. I’m not sure if it’s meant for just one reader or many. Are you that reader? Regardless of it’s extension and purpose, it will be there soon for the reader(s) it is meant for.
